Well, I'm running the HKS VTA right now and haven't had any issues.

I guess the HKS and Greddy are the only two you can run like that?

2nd day of mixed driving on my greddy vta, had a few little pops in the exhaust but it dosnt seem to be going rich inbetween shifts

I just switched over to see what would happen. Going to give it a look. idle is fine. Havent driven it yet

Did you give it any gas at all? I just tried this with the forge which is practically the same as oem, and idle was fine until I gave it a little gas which then it would studder at idle which I'm guessing is expected.

Yea I just went out, between shifts it goes rich and studders a tad once back in gear, otherwise it seems fine. I'll try out the stock bpv and see if it's any different.

So, I was told about the thread and how Lex found you can run the Stocker VTA.

Well, I tried it since I was swaping TIPs (Broke the stupid nipple).

At idle if you put your hand in front its just puffin out air like crazy, at least mine was.

So I drove it up the block. Seemed ok at first but then during cruising (not accelerating, just PT or enginebreaking) it was at -25. Shifts had horrid response. But the blow off was very non-dramatic and gave me a boner that spit white rice.

Did either of you actually monitor with a DH or AP? Or just go with seat of the pants feel? Unless you have a crazy strong spring in there its likely just causing you to run REALLY rich.

just tried this out, with my only mod being a CS intake/tip. only thing i noticed was idle was a little lower and had an occasional studder while idling w/o defrost or AC on. the rest of the time it drove like normal, the shifting being a little different, but not much.

the point is if you are only having problems at idle and decel, then the GA could be a solution for those who want to serve some rice. but then if you can run a bpv vta with the GA, then why not just run a BOV thats designed to stay shut at idle and decel?

Yes, you guys are missing the point. Running the stocker VTA is terrible. There is a massive air leak at idle and part throttle. Oy.

The POINT was that I can run VTA because of a new feature I am adding to the GA. If you guys think the car runs well VTA on the stock valve, wait until you see how well it runs with the GA.

if I were running an OE type BPV and wanted to go VTA...it would be a no brainer to get a GA instead of upgrading to an HKS type BOV.

mine as well. if you've already got a BOV laying around, why not? but if you don't, and want to run VTA, get the GA with the sweet new feature from Lex to run the stock BPV VTA. this would effectively kill two birds with one stone, as mentioned earlier. rice and safe sex in the same bowl.

The change to add the VTA feature to the GA is a software change so the implementation will be quick but I will have to do more testing with aftermarket BPVs before release. I am picking some up tomorrow. The OEM works well but we'll see how different springs affect things.

I am also going to investigate how running the feature AND recirculating will affect spool (ie by keeping the valve close, can I improve spool)?

In the end the feature will be something the customer can turn on and off as they desire.

Well like I said i ordered my Tial q conversion so I'll be willing to be a guinea pig . Especially if I got the wrong spring lol.
