GA with VTA mode released. Read all about it including updated instructions on my site here:

I've got 5 units available ATM and 100 more being built. I kept the $179 price for these next 5, but they will go up to 199 when the new batch arrives due to new functionality being added.

The GA does not work with those valves, so just run it VTA and see if you like it.

yeah i saw that on your sight. i just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything special i had to do with the HKS bov beside tuning compensation for rich fuel trims

As long as it is push type they all work. Just pick one with a sound you like and preferably an adjustable spring or a spring you can swap out.

This goes in the recirc tube?

Or over the recirc port on the intake?

If your fine with just sticking a plug into the recirc hose and having it dangle around in the engine bay, then go to lowes or home depot and buy a pvc plug for 75 cents. It works just fine but looks bad.

Its a recirc hose plug, just more bling than PVC

I was actually wondering the same thing. I've run the TS in dual port and the car still ran like crap compared to full recirc.

It couldn't hurt to have some of the air recirc'd with the GA since it only effects the bpv actuation. could be an effective solution.

As long as the valve is push type, you can run the GA with full as well as 50% recirc. You can even run the VTA feature in full recirc and see if you notice a difference in spool.

It should run just fine. The more extreme situation is when you're 100% VTA. If that works, 50% will work fine. Throw it on and see how it works and if you're hearing surge, loosen the spring on the BPV.

Please forgive my noobish tl;dr question, is the Cobb XLE BPV a "push" style valve? and to what if any disadvantage do I face should I purchase said guardian angel and run full VTA?

The cobb is indeed a push type valve and a kick ass one at that.

I can see no disadvantage running the gaurdian angle. It protects your motor from over boosting by releasing excessive boost threw the valve instead of cutting fuel or some other abrupt way.
It also keeps the valve closed during idle and close's faster in between shifts while using the VTA feature.

Ive got 2 questions at once. Im thinking of adding a Snow performance safe injection unit to trigger the GA in the case of loss of flow in my meth set up. Your instructions for the GA say to use a trigger of 5v or higher, the Snow unit has a 12v trigger signal, just want to make sure this is fine since it is double your given value. Second part of the question is if I go this route, with the impliment of the VTA software, should the trigger activate, will the 12v signal from the meth injection unit trigger the on/off vta option? I gues what im getting at is since it uses the same blue wire, will the GA know the difference of me putting the 12v to switch the vta on/off from it recieving the 12v from an external trigger to activate and "blow off"

Good questions:

1. The trigger signal should be 5V or higher. So 12V or battery voltage will trigger the GA just fine.

2. The VTA toggle only works for the second or 2 when the GA turns on. This is why you have to hold the trigger wire to 12V when you just start it up. After the startup, the trigger will just act as a trigger for the failsafe.

Lexster, I just looked at your install instructions and have a good idea of how the unit works now.

Question: Running GA in VTA mode and having an overboost condition will cause excess pressure to VTA. This is likely to cause a sudden rich condition (depending on amount of air exhausted), correct?

Obviously, a correctly tuned car is preferred and the overboost rich condition would only be a case if something went wrong.


I was about to buy but they are out of stock again. Looks like Ill be on the next shipment buy. Tried out a HKS (which has.... issues) and am not really liking it.

Got my GA installed and dialed in today. Works like a champ. Idle is good and stoich. shifts are much better and the boost protection is top notch. A much better way than fuel cut.

there are two issues however.

The stock valve i'm currently running does flutter a bit. At part throttle and WOT. Whatever, i need and adjustable valve.

But, once the VTA function is enabled the red light stays on??? This is terribly annoying. And that little fucker is bright. I dug the fact that it comes on when it see's over boost but on all the time other than high load?

So at this point i'm basically gonna make sure its dialed in and then bury the red light somewhere. I'm pretty bummed about this to be honest.
