Default Psycho's Speed6 Build (PT6266)

Finally, after talking to the only 2 shops in the area and not feeling to confident in letting them touch my car, I realized; Why the fuck don't I just send it to the man himself? @SPEED6 KILLAH;

So I called him up and before you know it, this happened:

Ended up pulling the motor by myself to send off to Pablo

As far as the goods:
PT6266 CEA BB Turbo (S compressor w/ V-band inlet)
CP-e LRT Mani (w/ Precision V-band)
Tial MVR 44mm WG
ACT 6-puck w/unicorn dust + Streetlite FW
HTP 4" Whale dick
CP-e SAFEseals
Bosch 3.5 bar + PnP pigtail
Manley H-beams
SP Pistons (10.6:1)
H11 head studs
ARP mains
Pablo's sick head porting + 5 angle valve job
JMF PI Mani w/1000cc inj
Speed Perf6rmanc3 PI Kit
..and some more stuff depending on how crazy I want to get with it, cams are on the table.

Now to see if SURE will take back these mounts so @jbarone; can mount me.

I will update this (or if Pablo wants to throw some pics in) as stuff happens.

23Apr UPDATE: Motor has arrived at Pablo's shop.
26Apr UPDATE: Decided to bump the CR to 10.6:1
27Apr UPDATE: 4" HTP intake arrived, really friggin fast for a custom color and damn does it look fantastic. Thanks @HTP; !

9May UPDATE: JMF mani with custom welded-in injector bungs ordered as well as the new PI kit Speed Perf6rmanc3 is working on in conjunction with @superskaterxes;. It is a pretty nice deal for those going to a PI setup as it will include everything you need: dual DW300 pumps, top hat, lines, connectors, FP regulator, injectors, SS controller, Wire harness, etc.
22May UPDATE: Pablo should have the rest of the parts in today and will be able to start on my build. He quite busy with a few other builds (including @Lakespeed6) as well as finishing the move to his new shop. Also JMF will be giving me the first production version of the V2 PI mani instead of a welded custom one. Decided to pin the cams/crank.
24May UPDATE: Pistons are here!

5June UPDATE: Motor is apart.
7Jun UPDATE: Jim just finished and sent off my manifold and was kind enough to send me some pictures of the finished product... Holy shit this thing is amazing.

16Jun UPDATE: Motor is back from the machine shop, head should be back Monday.

18Jun UPDATE: Did most of the battery relocation.

1July UPDATE:
VC is powerdercoated and the head is done.

3Jul UPDATE: @SPEEDPERF6RMANC3's PI Fuel kit has arrived!

20Jul UPDATE:
Worked on the PI kit for a bit, mostly just ran the fuel lines, mounted the regulator, and replaced the pumps.

Oh yeah, and Pablo is almost done with the motor!

26Jul UPDATE:

Worked on the routing of the wiring for the SP Aux Fueling Kit.

30July UPDATE:

Motor is on the way home!

1Aug UPDATE:
Cut the crash bar to fit the TR10, cleaned up some wiring, and installed the Block8head vent pod.

2Aug UPDATE:
Shipping delay on the motor (fuck). Wont be available for pickup till tomorrow, so unless I can put it in before 5pm then I'll have to wait a few days to get her running. Finished the intercooler mounting, cleaned up the fuel line run under the car, installed the Corksport SS clutch line.

3Aug UPDATE:
Motor is still on the truck at the shipping depot here and wont be unloaded till around 11. The shop I do my work at is only open till 5pm. So I'm going to have to wait a few more days and install it Thurs-Sat next week. Sucks.

8 Aug UPDATE:
Picked up the motor and started the install.

9 Aug UPDATE:
Started hooking wires/hoses back up. Had to "modify" a bunch of stuff because racecar and shit.

10 Aug UPDATE:
I'm drunk... Also I was able to find a shop to modify my downpipe on a Saturday.

13 Aug UPDATE:
Got everything back together and FUCK, 1 goddamn bolt kept me from driving the car home today. I'm so bummed.

17 Aug UPDATE:
She's ALIVE!!! Got the car running and drove her home.

Erich, Mistersix, JBR and 10 others like this.

Are you going with the 625+ manley H-beams? Just asking because those are what I'm leaning towards. (trying to stash parts for a build)

Great turbo choice, I ran a x3076 for a while then went to my 6466 and just wish I woulda gone to this one sooner. Sick sick line of turbos.

Yeah, Pablo recommended 'em.

No, not really. I think either one would do the job just fine, but the CP-e mani is flanged for the TiAL, so it just seemed easier.

You are the reason I chose this particular turbo if you recall my PM haha

I did not know that, but still, is there any reason I should go with the precision WG over the TiAL?

My preference is the TiAL, because it's watercooled. But i'm sure the Precision is also nice, and slightly bigger. I'm still not sure which one is coming with my setup.

I also dont think the Precision is as low profile as the TiAL

It's been less than a week of my 6 being down and I already miss her. So I got a toy to play with until she's back up and running. '92 NX2000 hardtop for $1400 (or the price of the turbo I bought for the build lol). Fun little beater car.

22May UPDATE:

The 10.6 pistons should be arriving at Pablo's today so he can get started on the build. Pictures to come later.

@Jim@JMF; , was going to make me a custom PI mani like the one pictured above but he emailed me today saying that I will get the first finished V2 mani, machined instead of welded. Jim also told me that they will be available for purchase in a week or two, depending on how quickly the runners can get finished. He sent me a couple pics to go along with that as well.

Drawing so you get an idea what the machined piece will look like.

Undivided flange with prototype runner.

Also decided to have the cams pinned instead of keyed (kinda the same thing I know, but pinning would be easier).

5June UPDATE: Motor is apart. All in all doesn't look bad for 65k miles.

Things should move more quickly now that the builds in front of me are done. Also JMF is going to ship out the first batch of V2 manifolds today or tomorrow and he promised me pics as soon as they are complete. I'll post them up as soon as I get them!

18Jun UPDATE:

Spent a few hours today getting the battery relocate done for the most part. I pretty much copied @QwkEVO; from his thread Update: Battery relocation complete! . So thanks for the insipration! Unfortunately, the 6 does not have room in the spare tire well to lay the optima down in it..... balls. So here is what I did:

I decided this was the best spot for the battery to go where I could get it as close to the quarter panel as possible so as to not use up a bunch of trunk space. The passenger side has the vent that would have kept me from getting as close as the driver side.

This bracket is about 2 inches from the quarter panel so it needs to be altered. As far as I can tell, it's only purpose is to serve as a mounting location for the plastic push pins for the trunk side trim.

The next issue I ran in to is having the battery hanging so far over the space where the jack goes. It needs more support to not sag. My solution was to take the part of the bracket I was trimming and fold it across to the trunk floor to make a bridge. The bend would be at my index finger and gap across to my pinky finger.

Like this. After this I cleaned up the rough/sharp edges and trimmed the bracket where the Sharpie line is. Just so there wasn't a bunch of unnecessary metal left over. Then I screwed the loose end to the trunk floor using self-tappers.

Next, I used a universal battery tray that can be found at any VatoZone/Advanced/etc. It was a bit larger than the Optima by about 2" on the sides, so I trimmed 1" from each side to keep the holes for the J hooks centered. I also trimmed the corner off to allow for the slight angle as the quarter panel goes behind the bumper cover. I wanted the battery to sit as close as possible to the outside.

There are 2 plugs near the bottom of the jack well. I popped the furthest one to the rear out and enlarged the hole a bit to fit the cable through, and used a grommet to seal it. Then I used stainless pipe/conduit holders with rubber in them to secure the cable to the inside bottom of the jack well from under the car.

I ran the cable above the muffler heat shield and turned towards the differential just before the subframe mount.

Just above the front rear diff mount (ignore the fact that it happens to be a SURE mount ) there is a hard line I zip tied the cable to. I could not get a holder up there with the gas tank and diff in the way. I might change it later, but it seemed secure to me.

This one is kind of dark but what I did here was drop the drivers side gas tank hanger and loosened the passenger side hanger as much as possible. I then ran the cable above the large fill line going to the tank and above the left rear brake line. There is about half an inch of room up there when the tank is bolted up. I zip tied to the brake line. Again not enough room to drill.

I zip tied the cable to the rear brake lines that run above the tank in 2 more places before it ran down above the e-brake cable. Then following the brake and fuel hard lines towards the front of the car, secured with the pipe holders.

Aaaaand up into the engine bay. I will wait till the motor is back to decide on a mounting location for the power distro box in the engine bay.

I ended here for they day. The power cable runs under the battery tray up to the 200A fuse box mounted next to the battery and then to the positive terminal. The general idea for the ground wire is to mount it on the left side of this picture to the hole it is running out beside. That hole isn't used for anything and can be bent towards the outside of the car so as not to touch the trunk trim piece once I alter it to fit back in. Then around the back just like it is routed to the battery negative terminal. I will put some rubber trim around the edges that I cut, just for piece of mind.

I used 20' red and 5' black of 1/0 welding cable (because it's FAR cheaper than "battery" cable but is the same damn thing) from wireandsupply.com for ~$50. 20 feet is JUST enough, in fact it was cutting it close, so I would recommend getting 25 feet to allow for botched crimping or alternate routes to run the cable.
Rokusek likes this.

I would recommend shortening that wire from the fues box to the battery post. or shield it from the freshly cut body panel. If over time it rubs and wears down on that edge, its before the fuse box, so there is no protection.

I get wire from Amp Installation Kits, HDMI Cables

200a fuse box?

are you going to run a circuit breaker? I recommend 50a or less.

50a wont start the car.

I popped 80 and 100a fuses while starting my ms3. I later found a 120a worked.

It's not quite finished. I will put some rubber trimming around where the power wire is to ensure it does not wear. The wire running to the fuse box is barely over 1 foot, i think it will be ok. I will probably put a 150A circuit breaker under the hood for easy battery disconnect while im working on the car. Also i think 200A will be fine, there will be a sub and amp back there soon after thr build is complete.
