Default MS3 vs MKIV Turbo Supra vs R32 Turbo Skyline

I had a very interesting drive last night.
I was cursing around Edmonton bored as hell when a supra and skyline blasted past me. I didn't even see them coming up behind me. They had to of been racing. They both braked a couple hundred meters in front of me and I caught up.

We lined up 3 wide @ 60 and left on the third honk. (This was the first time I have ever brake boosted and I will be doing it more often. I love the jump it gave me.) All 3 car we almost dead even. The skyline was inching on the supra and I was inching on the skyline. We cut off at 180 and our front bumpers were all within a few feet of each other.

We pulled over at Timmie's and chatted for a bit. Both cars were imported to Canada earlier this year and Both were stock. The skyline owner was cool but the supra owner was a punk kid. I could barely understand what he was saying between all of his "yo's" and "word's".

i have greddy EBC @ 18psi.

while holding your right foot steady at the speed desired with your left foot lightly press the brake pedal. At the same time ensure that you arent slowing yourself down by gently applying more pressure on the gas pedal essentially balancing the effect of you left foot braking. You can now look over and see the car is building boost. Once you reach desired boost level while holding your speed wait for your mark. if you are roll racing i guess that would be your 3rd beep then go

very nice. I can't imagine those cars having many modification, at least for speed. The skyline and supra are monsters stock so idk how you managed that. Way to give the speed3 a good showing, man!

hmmmm i dont know what to make of these. i mean i know what the car can do, kinda, and i know what the supra and skyline can do.... dont they stock for stock kinda kill us... either way good times and glad you all ended up ok.

stock skyline and supra from a roll are not that fast. They are heavy cars, skyline is AWD, are old and likely have had some abuse.

i think some of you have been watching too much fast and the furious. stock supra's and R32 skylines aren't space ships. they are both 10+ years old so the doesn't really surprice me.

was the skyline a GTR?

I didn't see a badge saying "GTR" so i'm not sure. Is there a defining feature of the car besides the badge that would show if it's a gtr or not?

I wouldn't make brake boosting a habit unless you like replacing your pads and rotors a lot. I used to do it on my cobra all the time until I saw a video of it and noticed my rotors were glowing red! Not too good for making the brakes last....

Pads and rotors? With the way everyone freaks out about the "fragility" of these motors I'm surprised there's still someone out there that willing puts the motor under extra load.

haha, good point. I'm new to the ms3 world and forgot that a few extra boosties might mean death for the stock motor...

that's strange.....but I guess you can't deny the fact that without boost in the first place it probably wouldn't have gone.

My 04 GT blew up on a low rpm'd 4th gear pull on the highway after 40K miles of 400ish rwhp on the stock motor. It wasn't that run that did it, it was the constant beating and boost before that


and I guess while were on the topic....how much can these motors take normally? I'm thinking I should be fine with turbo back exhaust and a few more psi....is that the case?

are you sure the supra was turbo and it was a legit R32 (not a swap or replica)?

I looked under the hoods both were turbo.
The R32 was legit as far as I could tell. How would I know otherwise?
Both were right hand drive.

The Supra doesn't wake up until post 100MPH. They are not 1/4 kings.
When my bother had his MKIV, it was leagues quicker than my MS6. Of course, he had his in 2000/2001, so it was still new.
I know if we were able to somehow line them up, it wouldn't even be a fair match.

That's cuz you have a MS6 and I have the worlds fastest stock MS3... Either that or my Greddy EBC is pumping in some 116 Octane fairy dust.

Supras aren't 1/4 mile kings? Supras are like THE car you get if you want an import drag monster.

The OP says that the cars he saw were RHD which means they are JDM imports. The Supra especially is significantly dumbed down over the US version at about 260 crank hp which makes the OPs story totally possible.
