Default Datalogs help

I'm posting these datalogs for @Mikey since he is at work right now.
so the story is that our cars are both full bolt on's and he was always a little bit faster than me. The only difference is that he has genjuan and i have a Poo and he's got a cms fmic and im running ets tmic.
The other day we were doing some friendly pulls and ever time i pulled on him (not running away from him but just walking slowly)
he is perm tuned by Dano i believe.

no mine are lower :/
Those logs are from about a month and a half back but it was just as hot back then

Yea about a month ago I was always pulling Z and now with no changes between the two of us he is pulling me once we hit the top of 4th... Could it be my fmic core or something else... Thanks ahead of time for any help.. It may take me a lil bit to response due to work..

Is this before or after you started using e85?

@weakdog85, if you wanted to look @ that log, choose:

data>text to columns>and there is an option for comma delimiters.

maybe im missing something but the logs in OP show high afrs...? 12s and even 13s at some point.. is that what is commanded?

Yea I noticed they where high should be around 12.4 and as you can see the long the run goes they higher up to 12.63. I am just not sure what would change everything all of a sudden.

damn i didn't realize people pushed that lean of AFRs without meth or added fueling.

weird that this is happening all of a sudden... could it be a leak? but i feel like that should make you richer not leaner.... maybe you had a leak before when you did your maf/wot cal. lol i got nothin. hopefully someone else can help you out

BAT's look pretty good for being in hot as hell Texas. From tuning Z, I know his car holds at least a couple psi more near redline, and his wgdc isn't maxed out. So I think with the higher heat the summer is bringing, the turbo has to work a lot harder to hold boost. In this case 2011 turbo>gen1 turbo and that is the difference you are seeing in power up top.

Mike's tune was completed ages ago and toward the end of the tune his AFR shot through the roof all of a sudden. We determined it was a crack in his DP which was sucking in outside air causing his O2 to read lean. This was back around the time jwilks had his baby DP installed VTA and had similar issues with AF readings...DP was too short IIRC

There was never any KR even on a low E mix IIRC so I didn't suspect at the time the AF was a true reading. I moved his target AF around in the tune but the actual never changed. This lead me to look at the DP/O2 area.

Mike, have you checked this again? if that's not it then you have a leak pre-turbo.

Edit: In possible answer to the boost fall off, not to mention 100*+ temps. Mike are you still running the CNT catted DP. I have tuned 3 of these and @Lex has tuned a few and we came to the unscientific conclusion that they suck They don't breath and that is why we saw boost drop above 5K while WGDC pegged.

i know a couple months ago, we installed the Ebay DP and he hasnt had any problems.

i that Z,RED, and i have driven his speed and heard his turbo whinning alot. could it be that he is pushing more power than the k04 can handle?

his turbo is old vs the PU so it could be dying for sure. IIRC he lives at the 1/4 so that will take its toll faster than driving hard daily.

good to know he got a good quality ebay DP to replace the POS he had

his AF issues can only be two things as outlined in my previous post....or his O2 sensor is going out but that is extremely rare.

@Dano leave my ebay DP alone..lol. Is there any quick ways to check a pre-turbo leak. I turned the car on and felt around and didn't feel anything. Also the "ebay DP" is holding strong with no leak.

only sure fire way is to do a pressure test with some HomeDepot supplies.

take filter off intake
install pressure fitting at intake
plug/cap off VC vent if using one on the intake
pressurize to ~20PSI and listen for leaks.

I think mine is a at buddys house or I'd post a pic, but basically you need a 3" PCV cap, copper threaded barb to fit a vacuum line to and drill / thread that into the cap and seal with JB.

get a 3-3.5" rubber reducer and clamp onto the intake and PCV cap. I have a gauge and shutoff valve on mine and can also do a leakdown as well.

I just got home from a meet and Did a log still about 99 degrees at midnight..but my buddy Z was only 118 bats... Could it be my turbo.

Those bat's are definitely a little high, especially after having some boost run through the IC, you should see a little better temp drop imo.

I see you have a CMS core. Do you have specs on that core?

If you want cool bat's, I would spray 100% methanol.

those BATs are horrible. is your rad hose touching your cold pipe?

even if it is there should still be more temp drop. Are you sure you didn't do an IC delete...

edit: actually, looking back at your older logs your core never cooled very well...only a 2-5* drop through a run so BAT temps are nothing new. Your AF on the other hand is out of hand.

average BAT drop on cars I have tuned without meth is 15* so your core is about 10 short. Tuning a OE IC car now that gets a 14* drop by mid run in 4th.

While I have had my rad hose on my cold pipe it only effected BATs in the first run of a series back to back...it is not a long term continual heating. Once the air really starts flowing through the pipe it isn't there long enough to pick up much heat. Now at a track this would be the case since most of your time is spent waiting.

so are you saying in a nice technical way that my core sucks and should probably get a new one. lol

IDK man it could be that the pressure drop on that core is almost non existent which doesn't allow the air to be cooled effectively. its a balance between pressure drop and cooling efficiency. The faster the air moves through the core the less time it has to remove heat. The longer the air is in there the more heat is removed but at a pressure drop penalty.

you say that is a 500 HP core so to me that might be too big and that may be the issue. Don't take my word for it cuz I am no IC expert by a long shot but do know you want to size your core for its application. One size fits all doesn't' apply IMO although you will find plenty of guys that will say bigger is better no matter what.

I don't really have a definitive answer for you and certainly don't want someone going out to buy a new IC core just to test a theory.
