(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score My targeted AFR is 11.8 I am now tinkering with tuning. Here is a copy of a run. I think the BATs are up because it was 90* outside. It hasn't been cool here when I have had time to play. Also the timing is at 12* @ 6k, 13* @6.5-7K for CL 1.44-2.0 I have this interpolated back to 2k. Any suggestions would be great.

dwam son start your WOT logs at 3k. i've always listened to the advice to stay out of boost(or at least dont floor it) under 3k rpms. high load + boost is apparently harsh on the engine. no ZZB. otherwise just do what you are doing. increase the timing slowly until you get knock then pull back. timing is pretty BAT dependent so you may not knock on colder days(or nights) but you may during the hot day.. so just be aware of that.

Thanks for the tips, but from what GODspeed7 said was, "when doing a WOT log bring the car to 2500 rpm's and then floor it. Don't roll onto the throttle, HAMMER IT and hold it there until 6500 rpm or redline whichever you prefer, then end the log" What I was told was the boost you are building isn't bogging it long enough to damage the motor, now if it was 5th/6th gear that is another story.

this was a main fear for quite some time, until we realized it as all mainly tune related, which has been fixed for the most part with the cobb ots maps and our tuning knowledge. typically i start my logs at 2700 so i have full boost by 2900-3000. as far as that log goes, afr is on point, personally i would richen it up a bit up top for safety reasons. seeing as how your bats were extremely high look at the timing. you didn't reach your targeted advance, which was the ecu doing what it is supposed to you. if you keep increasing it you might knock in extreme bats. keep in mind you should reach requested advance in bats under 104, roughly a half degree til 120 then you will see full degrees of timing reduced.

thats fair but i'm going to try redeeming myself by saying that you started that log at like 2100 but yeah otherwise like i said its looking good. add timing slowly (keeping the high BATs in mind)

SnailD - I don't think I have seen by BATs under 110 in a while. Even in cool weather (75-80) they seem to be running around 110. So to restate what you said to see if I understand. Since the BATs where so high th ECU pulled the timing to prevent KR?

yes im just telling you so u understand why you arent hitting targets and dont just add more in thinking there is an offset. it looks good, just something to keep in mind. you can also adjust how much timing is taken away in the tables fivefinger mentioned.

Any recommendations on some reading so i can learn more about the ignition timing adjustments? Thanks to both of you.
