Default Revealing The Truth

It seems most people are posting their hp/tq gains in this section. I recently installed FP internals and hit the labratory. Wanted to share with you guys my VD plot.

The only flow mods are SRI, TIH, TMIC, & Test Pipe. Stock DP & Stock CBE.


UPDATE:

Results on corn (25%). Torque is high and I am going to pull that back down. Sadly the torque increase is all the result of just using e85 as a fuel. The car is a rocket. I am blown away by what only 3 gallons of e85 can do. I have no doubt the car has no more in it, but i won't go that far without being on a dyno. I am still blown away...

Mods again are: SRI, TIH, TMIC, and TP.

How much boost and timing? Get a DP and you won't see a drop in power after 5k rpm's. Looks good.

That drop in power after 5k isn't really all that true. I see it all the time on many cars. The car does continue to pull to after 5k. I'm getting on an actual dyno soon so that will be interesting to see as well!

How does your car weigh 3635 pounds? Thats almost 400 pound more then stock.

From what I can see you're at 315 at about 5k rpm's, and at redline you're only at 285 or so. That my friend is a drop...with the reduced restriction of a catless downpipe you won't see that. Mine stayed the same up to redline, and I just gutted the cats.

Sometimes VD shows me no drop at all.

Thats why I am getting on a real dyno.

It's funny, I just looked at my old VD plots; some of them did the same thing. Most recently they were all flat as a board though. I can tell ya, it's really flat now!

It's really not technically a "build;" more like a frankenstein motor. I got a block with no holes and I'm sticking my head on it and using my timing components. The block is in Justin's garage, and my car is there too; now we need to yank the engine.

Not only does the OP know what he is doing tune wise, his car / turbo is one bad mutha.

I have no doubt if he hit the dyno, he would rack up very similar numbers.

on a serious note. the TQ numbers are consistent with however i grab the log. 3rd gear, 4th gear..always in this same ballpark. I should have grabbed this log from about 2500 RPM but someone was coming up behind me so i wanted to get the log in quick. But hp/tq numbers still show the same even starting from that RPM. Virtual dyno seems to be pretty good at calculating peak tq and hp (so as long as you at least go WOT before you make peak tq).

gained 14hp on VD just buy throwing the e85 in with no adjustments to timing!

all i did was get the trims and AFR dialed in. made 324hp just from cooling abilities of ethanol alone.

i'm addicted. results (with graphs) once its fully done!

Hoping for 330+hp

Alright i just finished up my e85 map. All i can say is, I am blown away. 3rd gear is seriously useless. Torque is higher than i would want it. I did not increase any timing down low. The torque #'s are all the result of e85 cooling the combustion chamber.

I'll edit the OP with the VD for my e85 log.

yeah man i know. i thought it could just be bumps in the road or minor wheel spin that i could not detect but its not and my clutch is not slipping either. I just tried a perfect newly paved highway and got a similiar curve again. I'll post that graph in a few minutes. An

yeah the target is 21.5 psi (i wanted to leave some room for throttle close and fuel cut while still remaining in the accuracy zone of the factory map sensor) and then tapering down to 18 psi. just running the e85 alone you could feel the difference from having cooler cylinder temps. once i started adding timing it became insane.

here's my current VD with just a "tiny" bit more timing up top. I'm considering this the final revision. Torque is still high for my liking..If i cant pull it down enough with timing ill have to just do a longer taper upward to my peak boost target. Numbers over 400 scare me. On 93 this isn't an issue. I'm around ~380 on 93.

Don't lower timing, I would say to just lower boost down low and don't hit 22 psi until like 4k. All that boost in the lower revs are giving you that crazy tq. It seems like you have freak of K04 in your car, awesome progress. I'd also suggest getting full DP.

yeah i was just saying that i gave it try and had no luck.

so i'll be targetting peak boost pressure at 4k as you said. hopefully it makes 3rd gear usefull again

yeah my car on just a 25% mix became rediculous.

taking 4th gear logs gets annoying now because sometimes ill get wheel spin and have to start over. I got lucky on that last log for VD. Had no wheelspin..

i'm out of e85 though. not that it isn't far for me to get though...

its just quite expensive to use...i drive my car every day to school back and forth so to just be running on e85 everywhere i go is not very cost efficient. It burns the tank veryyy quickly. So back on 93 for now. Might try a stronger concentration of e85 though next time around.
