| So I was on my way home today from work and decided to have some fun. I'm on the highway so I put it into 4th, pull to 6000 RPM and put it into 5th and continue pulling. I then look at my dashhawk and realize my knock retard is at 4.5 - 4.6. This is a completely stock 2008.5 car. So I kept on it for a little while and it stayed at around those values. I am running 94 octane fuel. Temperature outside was 22 degrees C. The car did not make any weird noises and there was no cutting out of any kind. So my question is, at WOT in 5th at 5000 RPM, is it normal for my KR to be between 4-5 degrees on a completely stock car? | ||||||||

| I hear stock cars are getting knock but I didnt think it was that bad..Check all your hoses for leaks if you didnt already.

| Did more reading about this and it does seem to be related to loose clamps. So I went in there and tightened them up quite a bit ... we will see what she does tomorrow. | ||||||||

| They may only need to be a little loose to cause a problem. I had replaced all my boost side with T-Clamps because they kept coming loose. Turns out it was my turbo inlet clamp, and it wasn't even loose, just not tight.

These observations were done without changing anything else on a stock tune. Boost at 6000RPM in 5th was around 13psi. | |||||||||

| There has been some speculation over on 6club that the knock sensor is a little too sensitive. Considering how loud the direct injectors are just at idle and likely even more so at WOT there has been speculation that the knock sensor is picking some other engine noises. The consensus seems to be that about 2 points of knock are acceptable and doesn't seem to cause any other adverse effects. That being said I need to watch the knock on my car and may need to tighten up some hoses. | ||||||||

| Like I was saying, I saw a great difference in knock retard based on temperature. The car starts knocking at around 5k RPM. Even at 2-3 degrees of KR, I only saw the ECU pull maybe 1 degree of timing at 2-3 degrees of KR. At 6 degrees of KR, you feel the car significantly pull timing. | ||||||||

| i've only ever peaked at 4.4 degrees of kr. it pissed me off. it was at wot with way too much boost turned up...i got off the throttle and now i'm alright. i might see 1-2 degrees of knock at wot, but then it goes away | ||||||||
