Default Anyone get random/false knock readings?

This has happened to me a few times now.

About 5-10 minutes after startup I would be driving at minimal throttle (very far from boost) and all of a sudden I'd get a crazy spike in KR readings on my Dashhawk. I've seen anywhere from 4 to 7 degrees. It catches me by surprise since in all of these cases I am not accelerating at all. Just cruising with very small throttle input. The spike lasts a little bit and then is never to be seen again for that trip.

Anyone else see this?

Thanks!

Yeah, I've been getting the same thing...

At part throttle (light throttle) I've seen Knock spike at 6.0 out of no where, then slowly decrease to 5.5, 5.0, 4.5...to 2.0; this happens between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm. And I'm not even in boost and if I am, its less than 5 PSI.

I think this is referring to as the open/close transition. Where some people with big turbos have grenaded their engines. I think CP-E is working on "fixing" this issue with their Flash.

Is this bad/risky for the health engine?

i dont think the car transitions from closed loop to open loop @ that light driving you would more be switching from ultra lean to open loop.....

It's nearly impossible to get knock at so little load. This leads me to believe that the KR variable is not directly linked to the knock read form the sensor itself. I think the KR variable is based on an algorithm that takes into account more than what it reads from the sensor.

yeah i get this too. like today right when i pushed the clutch in to shift i noticed it went from 0 to 1.8 degrees of knock retard. i have a stiffer engine mount and i believe that the added vibration from this may cause a few misreads from the knock sensor.

I was just suggested to use octane booster for a week to see if the Knocking disappears. If it doesn't, then you can suspect its false readings.

I wonder whats the best octane booster out there?
