Default AP vs. Standback (dyno)

Ok so as most of you know i had Christian at cobb make me a custom map for my mods. After various flashes, the tune was done. The car hit 20 and fell to 15 at redline. My standback hits 18 and falls to 15 at redline. Standback tunning was done by me.

Here are the results from the dyno.
Run 1, ap map tune that has been on the car for almost a week.
Run 2, uninstalled the ap and plugged in my standback and did a pull. No time to adjust anything
Run 3, 1 min after run 2 cause i frankly didnt give a shit to try and change anything. I could have gotten more out of her.

Results speak for themselves. The standback won by almost 40 whp and made more power everywhere.


Vids of each run were taken, and will get posted once youtube finishes processing them. There were 3 or 4 total cobb v103 cars there. All did poorly and lost to stock cars/dynoed higher on the stock ecu. It is what it is folks. Please don't ban me or lock this thread, i come in peace.

Was the tune on the standback with the meth? or were you not using it for these runs?

Im not knocking the way you did it, I'm glad someone finally compared both of them in a fair way, that was awesome of you, thank you for that.

it was on meth, with the same af ratio and only 3 degrees of timing advance. For the last time. 50/50 mix of meth will not do shit unless u lean the car out and add massive timing. IF you guys feel like it does...great, add one to the list of excuses coming.

Interesting results. This really makes me want to know WHY there's such a big difference between the two tuning solutions. By the way, you're last 4 sentences in your first post are just asking for trouble, LOL!

Do you think you can dissect what's going on with the AP and explain why it isn't making as much power as your SB tune?

AWESOME numbers chris!!!! We were all stoked to hear about it at cpe today. i just got home and 323 on the stocker is just kickass.... its about time you made what that car actually puts out.

as far as the AP goes... my god.

christian protune only made 287 on your car? jesus. and the v103s made less than stock? with all the APs? holy crap...

may, june, july, august, september, october..... and the ap is still just junk. What in the world is going on? im far more stunnned at the ineptitude of the AP than your numbers. i want to hear the impressions of all the guys who were there. One of them already contacted me about a pnp standback. it must have been an incredible day.

the AP remains a broke dog..... you would have broken hearts in Beltsville today if the numbers hadnt added up the way we expected...lol good job.... now come tune my car man!!!

You know that isn't true at all. Whether you tune for it or not, it still has a serious affect on BAT's as well as combustion temps and that will add power in either case.

Even with that though, I do find the results interesting because there are 3 locals guys here. 2 with the AP that claim a night and day difference with it and me with an MBC and ATP FCD. I borrowed one guys and didn't feel a thing except knock retard. I also have a weird car in the sense you can't feel the throttle plate closing. With or without AP it feels the same on the top end. I personally like my car better on stock ECU, MBC and ATP FCD compared to any of the AP maps I tried.

Edit: I'm just really curious as to why you would run with the Meth for the SB and not the AP and bother doing a dyno for comparison. I'm not particular to either side, expecially after having my own blah results on the AP, but I do think it makes your thread BS.

Not bad numbers at all. But, personally i wouldnt wanna tune this kind of engine myself. I would let someone from CP-E or COBB flash it, tha way i can blame them..Beside, so far our engines have a REP for blowing up...

how much timing did christian add?
and what was the a/f on the run?

i just want to know what the hell he was targeting that he only made 287 on a dynojet with all your mods. how the hell are all these guys getting over 300? we got guys on v103 making 300, and others making less than stock?

and for the guys there who flashed back to stock and dynoed higher than v103..... how long had they been flashed, and how much higher was stock than the v103?

did all 3 cobb AP guys dyno higher stock?
