Default extra ecu

nobody take my idea man...

can i swap ecus?
this is all hypothetical, but hear me out.
let's say i have sent my ecu to nypest and he's flashed my ecu with the piasani flash. and i like it. blah blah blah...
now, let's say i pick up a spare ecu from a wrecked ms3 and put the full control flash on it, do you think i would be able to swap ecus?

IIRC, you would have to take your car up to the dealership with the extra ECU and both sets of keys, and get the keys codes programmed into the extra ECU. It wouldn't run with the other ECU until you mate the keys to it, so you would have to drive it up there with the stock ECU and swap them in the parking lot. It can be done though, I just don't think anybody has.

but if you know how to program the keys, then it wouldn't have to be done at the dealership.
i know with hondas, you turn the car to acecssory, hit the unlock button three times, run around in circles and smoke a and then BAM!!!! you have a programmed key.
is that the only problem?
the key needs to be mated to the ecu?

Or get the set of keys and the cylinder that go with the ECU and swap them together. That's what I did for my swap, rather then paying the dealer. Other then that, I see no reason why you would have any issues.

Yes, keys need to be mated to the ECU. It can't be done with your standard reader, and I'm not sure if there is any aftermarket solution that can interface with the ECU at that level.

not a bad idea at all. get the keys that go with it...although, then they would still need to be programmer to the ignition...or is the ecu the only thing that's controlling whether or not my car will start with this key...

again, this is all hypothetical, but it'd be really cool to do

couldnt you just take the key from the wrecked car and tape it in the steering column somewhere?
then you would have both keys near the ignition at all times

I know this works as a bypass for remote start alarms on some cars

Doesn't work, I tryed it. Security light blinks the code for mismatched key-code. 6 blinks I believe

The ECU appears to be the only thing mated to key-code.
