Default Boost Air Temperature on Dashhawk...

Just a quick question to anyone watching sensors with your dashhawk...
If you are monitoring boost air temperature does it ever equal the actual ambient temp?
What I mean is.... in my car, after sitting overnight, in a garage, when I first turn the key without starting the car, my boost air temperature is always about 15-20 degrees hotter than the ambient air...
I would think that the entire engine would be the same temps so all the temperature sensors should read about the same....
Does everyones car do this? Or an explanation why?
Thanks.....

That's strange. I haven't checked that myself. I will check it out tonight with the AP. I'm hoping it isn't a DH PID decoding or scaling issue.....

think about it...the air going through the intercooler just came from the turbo which is driven by hot exhaust gas....u are not moving at all to cool it off through the intercooler so the air is going to be hotter.

pretty sure regardless of whether you have meth or not your BATs will be higher than ambient unless you are flooring it. Why would you want meth sprayed while just cruising?

lol not while cruising, most switches require you to be in boost
but it should bring bats down quite a bit, not sure if it gets it below ambient, but cooling is definately one of its properties

What version of the dh software are you using? The scaling should be correct for boost temp as they got help from cobb and cobb's IDS tool to scale it.

try this: turn your key to the "on" position without actually starting the engine to get the DH rolling and see what it reads. if you do this after the car's been sitting overnight, then you should see ambient and boost temps to be very similar. after you crank up the engine, you're probably getting heat irradiating through the header or something...i mean, the boost temp sensor can't be THAT far away from the engine head, so it's probably picking up stray heat from the headers right away.

On mine it says N/A for Boost Temp unless the engine is running. Also it can be quirky sometimes.. if you shut the DH off after it boots up with the key in the ON position without starting the car, it sometimes will still read N/A for many displays next time it starts
