Default Devilsown progressive kit installed

Hey All,

I installed the progressive kit this weekend. I have a few images you may want to see if you are considering an install. I went for the stealthly install approach. Forgive the ugly ass white nylon tubing. My kit showed up without it. Fortunately a local tubing supplier had some so I could at least get it installed. I am going to swap it out when proper black tubing shows up. I found what seemed to be a perfect location for the injector. It took some port work to get the spray pattern to not hit the sides of the hole. The spray pattern looks like about 45 degree angle. Here is a free tip; do not run an NPT pipe tap too far down in the hole being tapped. It is tapered and will make the male fitting have a loose fit. Do it in a couple steps checking the fit each time.

Hope this helps...

Good Job PB. You spec'd the same location i did for the pump a few nights ago. I see you also added a fuel filter inline to catch any debris, good move.

Your location choice for the nozzle is what i originally was looking at. I figured the inside would have to be machined out because the nozzle doesn't install deep like on some other kits ive used. You confirmed my suspicion on that, so i thank you.

Do you have any pictures of the reservoir? Good job man.

Thanks Haltech,
I used the stock washer fluid bottle. Here is a shot of it. I could have used the very lowest location for the tap but that is the thinnest washer tank I've ever seen. It felt like I could poke a hole in it with my finger. I was afraid of cracking it while forcing the fitting into the hole. So nstead of choosing the lowest I choose the strongest.

Hose should show up any day pm me your info so I can check on it.

Make sure you prime your system with the hose disconnected from the check valve. This is one of the biggest steps forgotten. Clean looking install. Have you had to test it out on the streets yet.

Looks nice. I tapped my nozzle location on the bottom side of the same piece. Personally I tapped it pretty much all the way to the end of the tap and it was still pretty tight. I think you'll only end up with it loose if you use the 11/32" drill bit before tapping. You should use the drill bit associated with the tap. Like 21/64" or something, I think.

Just curious. Why would you mount the injector in such a location right before an almost 90deg turn in the intake hose? I would think tapping the actual hose on the bottom after the turn and before the intake would be a better location to ensure proper injection into the intake. Not to mention, going back to stock is just a matter of replacing a hose and not an entire TMIC.

I'm sorry if I sound rude but it just does not make any sense to me. Is there a technical reason?

It was a matter of convenience. You would need a silicone boost tube, than a special tap to add the nozzle to it.

I did not want to tap into the hose because I did not trust 2.5 threads of engagement going into a rubber hose for a good seal. I could have purchased the internal mount fitting but I really do not like the idea of having a small part in the intake that can get ingested and grenade the engine. I also did not like the idea of a "bolt head" sticking directly in the flowpath anywhere. I choose the location because it seemed very logical. It had a perfectly machined boss that seems to be there just for this mod (it was not there by accident nor is it just a casting gate). It was also easy to get to for porting. The position puts the mist straight down the rubber hose. You do not need to buy the intercooler to go back to stock. The piece I tapped is seperate from the intercooler (see pic). If I want to remove the system I have two choices; I can simply install a 1/8" NPT plug in the hole, or purchase the manifold. I would only purchase the manifold if I actually blew the engine. It is a gamble I am willing to take.

So how do you like it? Any gains to speak of do you think?

The best description I can give you is, it pulled like it normally does with just me in the car while I had my 300lb friend riding shotgun. I dont drag race or have any way of accurately measuring elapsed time (yet) so I wont guess. I have not tuned for it so I did not expect anything. It did seem to reduce the under-hood temp quite a bit after a good flogging. The intake remains cool to the touch. I mainly installed the kit for reduced exhaust temps and the engine cleaning aspect. I am satisfied with the kit for those things and any performance gains is a bonus. I will eventually get more aggresive with the tunning but that is a ways down the road.
