Default Need pic of stock turbo exhaust side

Looking for some pics of the stock turbo exhaust side where the downpipe hooks up and a gasket mated up to it.

Ive done alot of hot side porting back in my Talon/Eclipse days on the exhaust side of the turbo and I want to have a look at how much material can be taken out.

On the 14b, from the dsm days, many people just hooked up the 14b cold side with a 16g hotside instead of trying to port out a 14b hot side

ive ported both 6cm and 7cm housings.......with a really hogged out 6cm it flows as about as good as a 7cm, but you run into cracking issues. My buddies 93 Talon AWD which had my portwork on a 6cm housing and 14b ran 12.46@109 with my portwork on the xhaust side @ 19psi on c16. My car had b16g 93 AWD as well.....with my work (7cm) and ran 12.04@113 on 23psi c16...this was back in like 1999, fun little cars. This was on a stock sidemount with modifed inlet/outlets.


These look like they flow pretty well, probably could use some work around the wastegate flapper where it ports out into the exhaust. Not sure what kind of gains you would see if any, but it would be worth a shot.

Do they have a metal or paper/metal gasket between the DP and turbo?

whats paper metal? i think its just metal (really should know by now seeing as ive done countless DP installs for people)

its a paper style gasket, rather thick with wire running threw it for rigidity

I havent seen a compressor map for this turbo yet. Not even sure if it would benefit from something larger.

Why would you want a bigger hot side? To slow down your spool? The compressor runs out of efficiency at 18-19LB and the current hot side is more than capable of reaching those, if needed.

The map is also available. I've seen it before but I don't have a copy on my computer to show you. A little search could get you some good results.

Sometimes exhaust sides are bottled up, and the turbo spends its load very early due to excessive exhuast backpressure. I personally would give up a crapload of bottom end spool in this car if you could get this car to peak power around 6000rpm vs the low 5000's.......The exhaust side on this turbo looks to flow very well. I know very little about them so that is why I asked.

I think something that makes full boost by 3200-3500 is perfect...this turbo will pack 19psi in the mid 2500 range.
