Default Performance Coatings Anyone...?

AutoX inspired me, but I don't like wrapping, so I had a bunch parts coated with various coatings from a company named Performance Coatings.

performance

Those guys are damn awesome! They helped me throughout the entire project, advising me on what coating would work best for each part. They explained what the coatings would do for each part.

My goals were to reduce engine compartment radiated heat, improve heat scaveging and reduce intake and boost temperatures.

Here's the goods:

MS CAI---Chromex ceramic coated inside and out
cp-e Catted DP---Ceramic coated on outside
ETS 3.25" TMIC---Heat dispersant coated on outside
TMIC Outlet---Ceramic coated on outside
RPMC 2.75" Prototype Turbo Inlet---Ceramic coated inside and out

Next on my list:

Stock Exhaust Manifold---Ceramic coated inside and out
Stock Turbo:
Compressor Housing---Ceramic coated on outside
Turbine Housing (exhaust side)---Ceramic coated inside and out
Intake Manifold---Ceramic coated on outside

Results:

Hmmmmmm..OMG, my car is a friecken demon now. I run out of fuel at 3/4 throttle and 4500 rpms. My boost temps are barely 15 deg F over ambient. My intake temps are about the same as ambient. My SW dyno was calculating 365 bhp, right when I run out of fuel. I have a cp-e HP fuel pump coming in a couple of days and will post dyno results after I get it installed.

Keep checking back for updates. BTW, i'm going to get rid of that ugly TMIC shroud and make one out of CF.....someday.

Looks nice. What's with all the bubbles in the ceramic coat in the middle of the valve cover?

Its a darn good idea though.

They believe it was oils in the valve cover. The valve cover was brand new from the dealer, so they assumed it was clean enough to do as is with just a sand-blast treatment first. In the end, there is coating under the bubbles and they didn't charge me a dime for the valve cover coating. Awesome company! They did offer to re-do it in any coating of my choice, but I decided to keep it as-is.

Looking good. For anybody that is interested, I switched from a powder coated RPMC inlet to a ceramic coated one (coated at the same place Speedy3 had all of his work done... thanks Speedy3.) I get about a 2-3 degree difference in boosted temperatures at a cruise and no difference at all under boost. So coating the inlet is not where your biggest gains are going to be.

Cost breakdown (not including 10% discount):

MS CAI---Chromex ceramic coated inside and out---$60
cp-e Catted DP---Ceramic coated on outside---$100
ETS 3.25" TMIC---Heat dispersant coated on outside---$100
TMIC Outlet---Ceramic coated on outside---$20
RPMC 2.75" Prototype Turbo Inlet---Ceramic coated inside and out---$35
Valve Cover--- Ceramic coated on outside---Free (would have costed $50)

Total cost so far: $315-10% discount=$283.50

The stock exhaust manifold and intake manifold will cost about $110 each. Not sure about the turbo....

These prices are not general public prices since I get a different price from all the business I have brought them. I assume pricing for single piece items would run very close to these numbers though.

Thanks Speedy for the valve cover! I love the color contrast it adds to my engine.
