I have one and its done me well. It posts the same gains as a Cobb SRI, though.

I would go with a cobb sri because its MUCH easier to get to the filter. You have to take off the left front wheel to access the CPE CAI filter.

Take a closer look at the pictures. Ive ran the cobb and my IAT'S were constantly 12-15 degrees HIGHER than with the cpe. Their intake is a silicon coupler with a filter attached to it. Go with the cpe....

CAI pulls more power over an SRI. SRI does have the edge in torque though.

Only problem with the CPe piece is, well, 2X the money than the Cobb.

I wanted the CPE but went with Cobb because of the price. Either way your money is well spent. When Cobb releases their air box for the SRI the temps should be about the same a a CAI but then you have probably spent enough money to get a CPE anyways.

I got the CP-E intake myself. The standard 6i/6s/8's had so many issues with short rams, I avoid them like the plague. The CP-E IAT's are usually at or near ambient (1-2 degrees off) while moving. The intake maintains ambient for a short while when stopped, then slowly rises.

It has a pleasant sound, and isn't too obnoxious. One thing to keep in mind with the Cobb intake, is that it is a louder intake, due to the induction being closer to the driver. Because of this, the BOV will also be louder.

Some people like loud noisy intakes/bov's, and if you're one of them, you should probably go for the SRI.

Many people will argue that a few degrees of temp doesn't make much of a difference..but 8 degrees on this car is 1 degree of timing pulled.

And remember...the dyno with the SRI was done with the hood up, and a fan blowing across the engine. (Not that anyone would ever dyno with the hood down...just pointing out that the hood wasn't closed, meaning that engine bay heat could escape...instead of being trapped, ie heat closer to the intake).

AG,
If I'm not mistaken, there are only two intakes on the market which maintain the proper diameter of the stock maf housing (and use straighteners). That's the CP-E and the Cobb. All the other intakes have a chance of throwing a check engine light (including the mazdaspeed intake, which a relabeled AEM intake). Of course you could get an injen and never have a problem (just like peeps with the speed intake), but any intake which doesn't stick to the stock specs for the maf housing, still could possibly have an issue, no matter how small.

Both intakes will get the job done, and as Crossbow mentioned Cobb and CP-E are the only ones i have heard of that has not caused some type of problem. The Cobb SRI from the get go had me questioning its build quality, with the plastic air straighteners inside the housing, and they did have some trouble a bit back with them breaking. One member made a comment that his were bowed a bit after extended use. Power wise it seems like they are about the same, but as mentioned the SRI is louder and so is the BOV....my sons friend has a Speed6 and the loudness is quite noticable with the SRI. I also think the cold air is better than the hot air being put into the intake...except maybe in the winter.

Laloosh quote..

Agreed +1.... a well engineered piece...my intake has not caused one issue so far and rain downpours have not been a problem either. Just do not go thru high water with the CAI. Just my 2cents...

proof of sri having mroe torque? Cpe shit is expensive and thats their only downfall. Hopefully group buys will lower the price. However if you think about it, cobb intake is expensive for what it is. ITs plastic bold btwn a filter and a silicon hose.

330 for an intake is alot of freaking money though
