Sexy, and clever way of setting up that vertical window to see how full the catch can is. Assuming of course that's what you created it for.

I also am in need of an OCC, so this is perfect timing.

Nice, but according to the instructions you gotta take off the skid plate every time you want to empty it, is that right? Seems like a pain. Also, would it be worthwhile to add a check valve to this or is it not needed?

The skid tray needs to be removed in order to drain the oil catch can. You can see it but it would be hard to drain unless you want a mess.

There is a sight tube so you can gauge the fullness of the OCC and know when to drain it. For the most part, the rule of thumb is to drain it when you do your oil changes.

You could retrofit a small ball valve on the bottom if you really want I guess.

A PCV valve replacement is not needed for your Oil Catch Can and we are not offering as an option.

If your PCV is failing, you would likely be getting a CEL and adding the OCC will not fix it, in which case you should purchase a replacement.

If it is not failing, no need to replace.

Just ordered mine.

Can this be mounted anywhere else in vehicle to make draining it a little easier? Maybe up near the intake, lots of empty space after installing an aftermarket intake.

Thanks guys.

We provided 5' of silicone tubing so you could identify alternate mounting locations if you prefered. The directions are written for Mazdaspeed 3 in a specific mounting location and the brackets were fabricated with that location in mind, but it can go anywhere.

We would love to share your feedback on our knowledgebase if you use a different mounting location that worked well for you!

my car has just over 400 miles on it so no worries there. i recall reading somewhere that the oem pcv valve may not always close 100% of the time. just checking to see if it was even an option. no worries. thanks!

Placed my order within the hour of it releasing. I was literally about to click submit order on purchasing a GoPro but would rather snag this up.

@CorkSport since for some reason the quote is not working

Maybe you guys should take another year or so to work on that bracket, :

Seriously though, not trying to put you guys on blast, just want to let other people know to check their bracket before they start taking the car apart. Also the kit did not come with hardware to mount the can to the bracket. Please add in your description that alternate mounting will be required if using a CAI (I have a CP-e and it will not fit). I found a decent mounting spot on the passenger side, but I'm going to need to make a custom bracket. It is farther than it looks from the belt. Probably a good 3 inches or so. I'll take more pics once I install. I would appreciate a correct bracket in case I decide to switch out for a RAM intake, so shoot me a PM please.

You should have gotten all of the install hardware with your order, so I will have to look into that.

If you are using our install location on a Mazdaspeed 3, you replace the bracket that is on the OCC with the T-bracket that is in the package. The brackets are not intended to be mounted together.

I will clarify this further in the install instructions.

Thank you for your feedback.

Wow, sorry about that. I did not even notice that there were set screws on the can. I must have glazed over that step due to needing a custom bracket because of the CAI. I didn't see how the bracket would secure to the can so I figured I was missing hardware. So I am not missing hardware then I guess. Maybe a good shot of the T-bracket on the can would be helpful, or I am just loosing it! It seems like both generations of MS3 use the T-bracket, so what is the existing bracket for, just custom setups?

Anyway, the install went pretty well on the passenger side. I'll post up some pics and a list of parts later. Cost me about $9 in home depot parts and took minimal mods (only drilling 2 holes in the bracket). Turned out nicely. Thanks for the response!

Thanks for the feedback and I am glad to hear the hardware was included and not overlooked on your order!

I would love to include your alternate install location details and pics on the knowledgebase for this product.

So it looks like you will want to add an additional check valve to minimize the pressure to the Oil Catch Can if you are running a turbo engine. We have added it as an option on our product listing page.

If you already purchased, I sent an email to you regarding the part that needs to be added and options to get it included.
